Anxiety and Depression

Around 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem each year with mixed anxiety & depression being the most common disorder. Symptoms can include insomnia, irritability, poor concentration, sweating, nausea, diarrhoea, palpitations, aches and pains, shortness of breath, fatigue, low self-esteem, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches and suicidal thoughts.

Acupuncture is a safe long term treatment without side effects and can be used alongside western treatments and talking therapies. It has been shown to be beneficial for anxiety and depression and may bring about a more balanced mental and emotional state by reducing sensitivity to pain and stress, promoting relaxation, deactivating the ‘analytical’ brain that is responsible for anxiety and worry, altering the brain’s mood chemistry, and reversing stress-induced changes in biochemistry.
