Jo is a fully qualified, traditional acupuncturist working from a quiet and relaxing clinic in Mumbles, Swansea. She has always been interested in healthcare and practiced as a nurse for many years before training as an acupuncturist. She first became interested in acupuncture whilst receiving treatment for her own ill health. After experiencing first-hand the benefits of acupuncture on the mind, body and emotions she decided to train as an acupuncturist at The Acupuncture Academy in Leamington Spa.
The course included a year in supervised clinical practice, and Jo graduated with a Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture. The three-year, degree level course is fully accredited with the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board. The training was extensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, with a focus on the five element approach. This means that Jo is able to consider your main health problem, as well as taking a more holistic approach to you as an individual.
Jo continues to update her knowledge and skills on a regular basis, studying with leading figures in the field of acupuncture. She also teaches students of traditional acupuncture at The Acupuncture Academy in and enjoys opportunities to have acupuncture students observe with her. Jo is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC), the professional body that represents practitioners who have completed an accredited course in acupuncture. The BAcC maintains standards of education, ethics, practice and discipline to ensure the health and safety of the public. British Acupuncture Council members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers, and is accountable to Parliament. The clinic is licensed by the City and County of Swansea and Jo holds full medical and public/products liability insurance cover.
